Home Run 2003 pics.

This picture says it all; the running club did very well at the Stanford Home Run 2003. (Compare to last year.) Putting out seven 5-person teams, we placed in all of the team races: 1st Men's 5k, 2nd Women's 5k, 1st Men's 10k, and 1st and 3rd Women's 10k. We had many individual wins too. Charles McKeown won the Men's 5k in 16:48 and the club took the top three spots in the race. Patrick Ward won the Men's 10k in 34:58, essentially unchallenged. Lauren Gustafson won the Women's 10k in 40:21, a minute slower than what she ran last week because she ran with a fever. In the individual age division awards, we essentially took all awards for the 18 & under division and 19 to 29 division in both races, men and women, with five 1sts, four 2nds, and six 3rds. The pictures below were just some quick snapshots. There are many more to come (with all the team photos, Bob winning free things, etc.) |
An interesting fact about this race was that the high temperature for the day was 94F. The previous record temp on October 25th was set in 1965 and was 84F. Great googally moogally!

Left: Start of the 10k. Right: Patrick on a training run. No,
wait. Patrick winning a race.

Left: Richard gives the thumbs up. Right: An extreme close-up of
Chris.

(L to R) Claire, Jia, Josh with a quizzical look, and Karen. In no
particular order. Josh was in fact running his second race of the day.
After he ran the 5k, he ran the 10k under another name, somebody who didn't
show. He did it all for the team.

Left: Sarah. When is this girl not happy? I just learned her screen name
is something like "WillRunForDonuts." That's great!
Right: How Amanda looks from a bike. There was a large chance the
photographer would have died in the taking of this shot.

Left: Wendy in this cool action shot. Right: Pratap starts
breathing again.

Left: Matt, Alex, and Matt's back. Nice t-shirt, Alex.
Right: The club sitting around waiting for their awards.

Left: Team Red (Reena, Charlotte, and Lindsay, minus Brit and Laura)
shows off their award. Brit and Laura continued running
right on out of the stadium. Right: Team Gold (Kristen, Darcy, Lauren,
Wendy, and Amanda) all squinty with their award. Rockin'.

A group shot of all those members who stuck around. Awesome job guys.
